Reformer for Beginners: With the Pilates Ring
With Pilates ring and box — from footwork to plank
A calm entry-level flow with the Pilates ring: footwork and glute bridge lying down, single leg extension, a crunch series, kneeling rotation, lunge and hinge on the box, a side bend and a forearm plank to finish. Nine exercises with clear spring settings — ideal for your first Reformer classes.
Who This Class Is For
For beginner groups and classes that like using the Pilates ring. The ring helps them feel the inner thighs and the trunk.
The plank only comes at the end, as a forearm plank on the box.
The Common Thread
From lying down through kneeling to plank, with the ring as the thread through the class.
Your group learns the basic reformer positions and gets direct feedback from the ring on whether they are working correctly.

How the Class Runs
Warm-up
Settle in and breathe.
Main section
Nine exercises: leg work in the long straps, glute bridge, single leg extension and a crunch series in tabletop, all with the Pilates ring. Then kneeling rotation with ring, lunge on the box with scooter & hinge, kneeling hinge & roll-down with ring, side bend with rotation on the short box, and a forearm plank on the box. Four side changes have their own cards.
Cool-down
Roll out and stretch.
50 min in total.
Springs and Small Equipment
The lying work runs on one light and one medium spring; from the kneeling rotation on, one light spring is enough.
Set out: Pilates ring, box and straps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does everyone need a Pilates ring?
Yes, the ring is in almost every exercise. The exercises work without it, but they lose the feedback that is the point.
How often do I change springs?
Once: from light plus medium lying down to one light spring from the kneeling work on.
Is the plank doable for beginners?
Yes. It comes as a forearm plank on the box, right at the end of the class.
