Starting Position

Lying on your back on the carriage, the resistance band above the knees, legs in tabletop, hands behind the head.

Step-by-Step Flow

  1. Crunch.
  2. Hold the crunch, extend the legs into the diagonal and press the knees out against the band.
  3. Hold the crunch and alternately bend and extend the legs (bicycle).

Cues for Teaching

  • The head rests heavy in the hands — the work comes from the abs, not the neck.
  • The lower back stays on the carriage, even when the legs go into the diagonal.
  • The band stays lightly taut the whole time.
