Starting Position

The legs in the Pilates ring at thigh height and in tabletop, hands behind the head, scooted slightly away from the shoulder blocks.

Step-by-Step Flow

  1. Crunch: lift the head and shoulder blades.
  2. Hold the crunch, extend the legs to the diagonal and bring them back to tabletop.
  3. Lay the arms long by your hips and pulse into the ring with long legs.

Cues for Teaching

  • The head rests heavy in the hands — the work comes from the abs.
  • The lower back stays on the carriage, even as the legs extend.
  • The ring stays under tension, even in the long-leg variation.
