Starting Position

The box over the springs, the right elbow on the box, both legs bent on the carriage, the left hand on the hip.

Step-by-Step Flow

  1. Lower the hips toward the carriage and pull the carriage in toward you as the hips lift.
  2. Extend the left arm long overhead and thread it under the torso.
  3. Bring the left elbow and left knee together, lower the hips toward the carriage and extend both long again.
  4. Hold the long leg and long arm extended and pulse.

Cues for Teaching

  • The elbow sits under the shoulder, the shoulder pushes away from the box.
  • As you pull the carriage in, the work comes from the side waist.
  • Arm and leg stay in line with the torso as they extend.
